Editor basics

The editor is where personalisation actually happens: both for you, laying out a product, and for your customers, making it theirs. It looks busy at first glance, but it’s really just one screen: a canvas in the middle with everything you need arranged around it. Get comfortable with the layout once and nothing in the rest of these guides will feel unfamiliar, because every text, image and effect control lives in the same few places. It’s also worth knowing that you and your customers use the same editor, so what you see while building is what they’ll see while buying.

The canvas

The canvas in the centre is the live preview of the design. Customers add, move, resize and rotate elements directly on it. Each view has its own canvas; the print area shows where content is allowed.

The toolbar

Small buttons above the canvas:

  • Zoom in / Zoom out — get closer for fine adjustments.
  • Undo / Redo — step back and forward through changes.
  • Download — save the current design as an image (Download your design as PNG).
  • Close editor — leave the editor.
  • Save as Templateonly you (the merchant) see this; it saves the current design as a reusable template.

The side panels

Down the side are panels for adding content. Each one only appears when you’ve enabled that feature for the product:

  • Text — add and edit text.
  • Uploads — the customer’s own uploaded images.
  • Elements — clipart and graphics you provide.
  • Templates — ready-made starting designs.
  • Background — change the canvas background.
  • Colors — recolour the parts of the design you’ve allowed.
  • Layers — the list of everything on the canvas.

The inspector

Click any element and the inspector appears, showing the controls for that element: text formatting for text, filters for images, plus shared controls like Position, Size, Opacity and Rotation. With nothing selected, it shows Start Creating — Your design elements will appear here.

The layers list

The Layers panel lists every element, top to bottom. From here you can:

  • Move forward / Move backward — change which element sits on top.
  • Lock layer / Unlock layer — stop an element being moved or deleted.

When a view has nothing on it yet, the panel shows No layers yet.

The main actions

Along the bottom are the actions that finish the job: most often Add to Cart, and depending on how you’ve set the product up, Save & Continue, Save Design or Share. We cover those flows in the customer-facing sections.
