Step 5: Add a customisation price
Step 5 of 7 · Make your first product
Here’s where personalisation starts paying for itself. Plenty of merchants give simple customisation away to win the sale, then charge for the work that genuinely costs more: a full photo wrap, extra lines of engraving, a rush setup. This step shows you how to attach a fee to exactly that, so it appears automatically while the customer designs and lands on the cart as a clear line item. If you’re happy offering customisation for free, skip straight to the next step; your normal price already does the job.
Add a simple fee
Say you want to charge a small fee per character of engraving on your mug:
- In the Dashboard, open Pricing Rules and click + Add Rule.
- Choose the rule type Text length.
- Under Conditions, set the price (e.g. €0.10 per character).
- Under Applies to, pick your mug (or leave it on All products).
- Save.
Now the customisation fee is added on top of your base price and shows on the cart as Customization Fee.
When you need more
Pricing can do far more: tiered fees, per-image charges, charging by printed area, percentages, and scoping by print method. When you’re ready:
