Production status workflow
Two different clocks tick on every order, and confusing them is how things slip through. One is the familiar WooCommerce order status: paid, processing, fulfilled. The other is whether the design is ready to print, which is a separate question entirely: a customer’s artwork can be perfect while its print file is out of date because you edited it after the fact. This page explains how Sigmira keeps the two apart, so you always know which orders are genuinely ready for production and which still need a moment.
Two kinds of status
- Order status — the normal WooCommerce state of the sale. In the Orders list you filter by All, Unpaid, Open, Fulfilled and Cancelled, and each order shows a badge (Unpaid, Open, Fulfilled, Cancelled or Refunded). Use Open to find the orders that need producing.
- Design readiness — whether the print file matches the current design. This is what tells you an order is ready to send to production.
Keeping print files current
The signal to watch is Re-export needed. It appears when a design changed after its print file was generated: for example, you edited the customer’s design. Regenerate the file (Re-export, or open the design and Save & re-export) so production always gets the current artwork. See View customer designs and Download print-ready files.
Optional review step
If you’d like a deliberate sign-off before a design is treated as production-ready, turn on Require explicit review before marking an export as approved (Settings → Cart, under Order workflow). With it on, an export isn’t considered approved until you’ve reviewed it (useful when more than one person handles orders).
A simple working routine
- Filter Orders to Open.
- Open each one and review the design.
- Clear any Re-export needed flag by regenerating the file.
- Download the print file and send it to production.
- Mark the order Fulfilled in WooCommerce.
